Story by Maria Lepro
The day had finally arrived. It was the morning of Sunday 14th December and we were celebrating the very first SICC Club Xmas with a barbeque at Thorndon Park.
The weather was disappointing but this did not stop members arriving with their families for a fun filled day.
The younger children followed and fed the ducks around and also spent considerable time on the playground.
The barbeque consisited of italian supreme sausages (slightly spicy) and scotch fillet steak (which melted in your mouth). There were numerous salads to accompany this.
An enormous amount of alcohol was consumed and there was lots of socializing going on.
It was then time to draw the raffle. All eager people awaiting to see if their winning ticket would be drawn.Ten lucky winners were picked.
Photos were taken for rememberance of this day.
From the comments received it was a great success and everybody enjoyed themselves immensley.
Many thanks to everyone who contributed to the event success.
I would like to wish all SICC club members and their families a Merry Christmas and look forward to upcoming events in the New Year.

Story by Maria Lepro
On Sunday 17th November I decided to join the guys for a run in the hills. We all met at 8.30am at the usual meeting place, The Tower Hotel.
I was introduced to all the drivers and viewed their cars.Always hearing about their run I thought I would join them but was initially apprehensive as I am not a real hills, windy road person and was unsure as to how fast they were going.
Along the way there were lots of bike riders, making it difficult for the drivers.Off we drove through Cudlee Creek, Loberthal to Balhannah
We arrived at a Cottage Cafe. There was a chill in the air and showers, not normal for this time of the year.We ordered breakfast and I talked to some of the drivers, feeling comfortable at all times.
After breakfast we travelled back through the hills the way we came.Back at home it was quite sunny, would't you know it.
It was a great way to start a Sunday morning and I encourage other partners to turn up.I am excited to go on their next run.

Story by Domenic Lepro
It was a beautiful Sunday morning as I turned up at the Tower Hotel to await other eager members for a spirited drive to Cuddlee Creek for breakfast ( the long way)Not knowing who was turning up I sat polishing my baby while waiting.
I had not long to wait before they started arriving one after the other. It was a beautiful sight. We had a couple of 105’s, two spiders of each marquee, a sexy Giulia Super and both a lovely red GTV and Fiat BC all lined up. As we set off we hardly got 500metres before one of the 105’s needed some gogo juice so we had to stop for him to fill up.
Once accomplished we set off again on our run working our way up before we came up against a obstacle in the form of a learner driver in a new yellow BMW mini. The mini was travelling along at a snail’s pace, taking up the road and not trying to get out of our way and let us through. At one stage she stalled the car on a incline with us all lined up like a freight train on her rear bumper.
We had to pull off and regroup and give her a chance to get out of our way before we continued on. The rest of the drive was quite enjoyable apart from the other learner driver and the 4 abreast pack of bike riders and 2 scooters trying to block us. The breakfast stop at Cuddlee Creek was fantastic. We all enjoyed the good food.
The view from the outside balcony was picturesque and the conversation we had as well during breakfast was great. The drive back was great. We even stopped for a few photos on a section of the road back. It took a while to get the cars all lined up but it was worth it to get a photo for the magazine. Everybody seemed to enjoy themselves and I know that I can't wait to do it again.
Pasta Night 26/9/08

|

|

The evening started with a platter of antipasto.
On the main menu was bolognese & puttanesca and cream sauce with a variety of pastas like gnocchi, ravioli filled with spinach and ricotta and fettuccine all washed down with a glass of red. And finally a platter of delicious Italian cakes and a traditional espresso.
Members of the SICC club showed up to eat, drink and enjoy the company of others attending the pasta night.
The night was warm and balmy so a lot of the members sat back to take in the Marche club atmosphere, there was live entertainment and not a spare available chair at any table.
Can’t wait for the next one. |
God's Hill Winery Cruise - 20/7/08

Social Scene:
It was a cold wet morning on the 20th July 2008 when 7 cars assembled at Newton at 9:00am, some arriving late.
The procession made their way to Houghton, the road was windy and environs green thanks to the rain.
A stop off at Lyndoch for a powder room break and then the road straighten to Tanunda for morning brunch.
Another two enthusiastic members joined the throng of social seekers at the Hans bakery swelling the numbers to 24 SICC members and members’ families.
As the last coffees and breakfast were consumed, time approached midday and the main event.
It was off to God’s Hill Winery for a meal of antipasto, wood oven bread, pickles, condiments and cheeses for starters and then just like it says in the Sopranos headquarters window “Italian Sausages” cooked by the wood fire Brazilian style.

Our host Charlie Scalzi had laid out the food and his best selection of red and white wines for tasting. His wines are single vineyard low acreage yield boutique wines of exquisite fruitiness and pleasurable palate; this was evident by how many bottles every body purchased prior to leaving.
After the stomach was full out came the 30 year old Muscat this was such a smooth port that despite its premium price members still could not leave with out a bottle.
The wines Charlie has available and which I tasted all of them and then tasted them again just to make sure are a; Black Olive: Merlot 2004, Menzel: Shiraz 2004, Menzel: Shiraz 2005, Permanent Arm: Cabernet Sauvignon 2005 and a excellent Chardonnay 2007.
Towards the end of the day Charlie assembled the Pilgrims around him (well it was World Youth Day in Sydney after all) and went about explaining the difference about mass produced wines and premium wines and we participated in an questions and answers session which did in fact clear up a lot of questions in why wine differs in price so much and Charlie did a great job in explaining.
I summary the day was so good and enjoyable not even the rainy, cold, wet condition dampened the spirit of the 24 wine and cheese lovers every one had such a great time I am sure it will be a talking point for years to come.

Thank you very much Mr. and Mrs. Scalzi God’s Hill Winery Lyndoch.

Breakfast Run 20/04/08

The morning of the 20 April began in full sun and six highly polished classics assembled at the Tower Hotel car park.
After close scrutiny of each others machinery a destination was decided on and the sound of six four baggers set off up old Norton Summit Road. As the intention was a family day breakfast followed with a final destination of Semaphore. The cruising was both spirited and leisurely. Those who choose to leave the caps firmly atop of craniums soon become detached form the main group. This ensuring separation coursed confusion to the breakfast gathering. Directions where sought from a local cherry farmer at Ashton and the second group was soon reunited with the leading pack at Uraidla. Everyone indulged in the locally produced fare, followed by a cup of coffee before the trek out of the hills to the plains of Adelaide before gathering at the Alfa Show and Shine day. A great morning and afternoon was had by all.
